Emilis Prelgauskas - design elements A detached self sufficient house built at The Range in the Adelaide Hills.

Single room depth layout surrounding an inner courtyard. The northern pavilion of living room, kitchen and retreat faces north out over the clearing downslope toward the eucalypt forest beyond.
This pavilion has clerestorey lighting and venting the kitchen, earth tube to pantry, solar hot water and power generation on the roof.
The southern pavilion houses private spaces. The western link pavilion houses wet and services areas and shades the inner courtyard from afternoon sun.
Timber frames structure on concrete slab, insulated roof, ceiling and wall voids, external steel roof and aerated concrete panel walls.
